About Me

Hi! I’m Pam Hall and I’m thrilled to welcome you to The Crafty Chipmunk community! I hope you feel comfortable here…

First, let me explain the business name.

I like that people are curious about where “The Crafty Chipmunk” name came from.

This is a photo from 2012 at our family cottage in the Bruce Peninsula. It’s not photoshopped. That’s a chipmunk on my original Cricut crafting machine…outside in our “craft tent”. Every summer of my whole life has involved loving chipmunks. So, you can imagine how thrilled I was when they showed up our home backyard. When it came time to give my business idea a name, The Crafty Chipmunk seemed like a good fit.

Now you know I love chipmunks. I also love writing and have a more in-depth “About Me” blog if you’re curious to know a little more.

Here’s the speedy as a chipmunk version. I’m Pam, and I…

  • live in Chatham, ON with my patiently supportive guys - husband Brian and son Andrew

  • decided to start a business at 57 years old, retired and jumped into creating

  • now make unique faux succulent & floral designs - both new & custom

  • design with up-cycled materials, vintage & natural elements along with long-lasting, high quality faux plants.

  • sell my arrangements at the markets I attend and in my online shop. I don’t have a physical store.

  • love to promote the benefits of creativity in our lives through workshops, posts & my blog

  • write & edit my own words. My designs come from my brain. And I avidly read about creativity, the arts and keeping our brains in gear.

  • have a home studio that has Spotify and a turntable. Music & chocolate fuel me.

  • enjoy collaborations that make my life better. I’m surrounded by a community of support that inspires and supports me beyond my wildest dreams.

Next, I invite you to slow down with me.

Despite my choice of business mascot, I am not really like a chipmunk. I’m no longer in high gear. The creative process needs time to unfold. Patience has been my biggest life lesson. Growth, skill development, learning, designing, experimenting - it deserves time and attention. And so do you.

My designs are made with thoughtful attention for you. I love chatting with you at markets. I do a happy dance when you choose a design to keep or gift. Can you believe I’ve created over 500 unique pieces since starting my business in 2023?! The response to my craft has been so incredibly encouraging.

The workshops I offer are a respite from the hustle of life. I’m beyond honoured to share a workshop with you and help ignite your creative spark. Even if you think it has gone out permanently. I believe that my steps to cultivating creativity are accessible and helpful to anyone feeling a bit stuck.

Oh, and, I like designing for you.

I am honoured when someone asks me for a custom designed piece. From lovely containers that once held live plants to huge empty lanterns, I’ve created fresh (yet, faux) arrangements to suit the customers’ needs. I love that I’m trusted with bringing your vision to reality.

One of my favourite things to hear is “I have this ____. Do you think you could fix it up?” Check out my gallery for ideas and contact me for a design consult. If we can bring your idea to life, let’s do it. (And if I can’t, I will be upfront about that with you.)

And this is the gratitude part.

Making the decision to retire from my 35 year career a bit early, and start a business was an exciting, scary and daring transition. I am grateful every day for the supportive enthusiasm that has lifted me up and kept me going. That’s come from my family, my friends, and the amazing creators and business champions I’ve met. These are the people that have helped me with my inner belief in myself and created a thriving community of love & support.

If you’re starting a new venture, I highly recommend taking some mindset courses and surrounding yourself with people that help you quiet the inner critic in your head. And if you’d like to chat, reach out. We’re better together.
